French President Emmanuel Macron has made important revelations about the man who received a public slap in the face.
According to international media reports, the detainee was identified as 28-year-old Damon Terrell, who was influenced by nationalist right-wing ideologies.
The accused had subscribed to several extremist YouTube channels and was influenced by their thoughts and ideas. After a preliminary investigation, police said the accused had no criminal record and had never been arrested before.
The suspect will be remanded in police custody for another day, after which he will be charged with possibly assaulting a public figure, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.
