Malala Yousafzai is under fire by the netizens as well as the conservative strata of the society after her interview with Vogue published on Tuesday where she has expressed her views on marriage.
Her opinion on marriage is hard to digest for the people.
In her interview, Malala had said, “I still don’t understand why people have to get married. If you want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers, why can’t it just be a partnership?”
The showbiz celebrities reacted to Malala’s interview. They criticiced her for her ‘irresponsible’ remarks about marriage.
Talking to 24News HD TV channel, TV celebrity Mathira said that marriage was important in every religion—be it Christianity, Hinduism or Islam.
“I think it is very much necessary. I think it should be promoted and not put on the sideline. We should not promote live-in a relationship.”
She said Malala, as an icon for the young generation, should be promoting religion. She said she did not know why she (Malala) gave this kind of statement.“I do not know whether it was for generating controversy or what but she should have not said this,” said Mathira. She said Nikkah was necessary.
“It does not matter how modern you are but you have to teach your kids that commitment and marriage was necessary. Nikkah is not just singing a paper, it is very important in our religion. Whatever you said, the end is Nikkah, you cannot go on only with partnership or live-in relationship. Indirectly she is promoting a live-in relationship.
